About Safety Harbor, Florida
Although Safety Harbor was originally incorporated in 1917, it has been inhabited since the stone age. In 2008 a 6,000 year old stone spearhead was found.
In the 1500’s Spanish explorers found the area populated by the Tocobanga and Timuquan tribes. Their burial grounds still remain as a reminder of Safety Harbor’s rich history.
Due to its location at the top of the bay, Safety Harbor was named for being “safe” from the threat of pirates.
